Pacific Patrol At Sunset
Thrillingly swiftly making our spirits well aware...
We journeyed to the coast,
impoverished souls,
pale faced ghosts,
nonetheless riddled with holes...
The prior year as the milepost,
full of chuckholes,
we arrived diagnosed,
needful of healing tidal shoals...
Missing someone not present most,
who up yonder scrolls,
lost on earth after long sclerosed,
for reparations we undertake pacific patrols...
Suddenly a sunset uplifts our 'til then blithe pneuma unaware,
jarred by geographical repositioning of terra firma and salt air,
thrillingly swiftly making our conscious spirits well aware,
all along missing person has been soulfully in our foursquare.

Granite Dells
Postcard from the past circa 1974...
We two siblings sat among big rocks
staring, thinking, wondering
having one of those silent talks...
Cross-legged our young life at crosswalk
gazing, reflecting, pondering
what were soul marks of chalk...
Unexpectedly we had lost paternal building block
furrowing, growing, thundering
heads compelled to take stock...
After a short while we packed up eyeshades
knapsacks, water bottles and day hiked out
to years layered upon decades,
like boulders enduring without doubt
soon forgetting the fragility that pervades,
every breath taken could still phaseout.
I sit alone now surrounded by same rocks
contemplating, reasoning, pardoning
mortal life for being a ticking clock.

Rain Droplets That Laved
Clinging to Prickly Pear cactus pad to be saved...
The raindrops came fast and furious
as they do in desert downpours,
every drop savored and to be saved
seeping into storage underneath desert floor...
Pavement of hardened dry sand buries
fast at first then swollen slowly restores,
above ground rain droplets that laved
clinging to cactus pad before sliding subfloor.

Pardon Me For A Moment
While I adjust my cross-wired brain...
Pardon me for a moment
while I adjust my cross-wired brain
nether my remaining hair...
As I settle with unsolicited claimant
a cloud seeded foggy moody rain
that drizzly dampens my air...
Obligating me to be patient
whilst relieving headachy pain
reasoning out impermanent despair...
This encounter is recurring and ancient
history has schooled is part of life's terrain
for living full and a begrudging transient affair.

Seventeen Miles Out
State route where railway unloads...
Seventeen miles out state route where railroad unloads
then down dusty desert floor sagebrush road
a well-intentioned displaced rerouted life is burrowed.
A few hundred yards away from Depression water tank
sits tilted trailer where awhile ago Ennis sank
near watering hole by mountain from which cattle once drank.
The strait jacketed life of his era never did fit
many times years ago tried his damndest to make a run for it
heartbrokenly his running buddy didn't have guts or wit.
Without regard of today's dustbowl condition he does thrive
spiritedly independent and every day anew revives
that hotspot within that has kept him doggedly alive.

Adventuring Sorrow Road
Blue buckled and weary expedition...
Adventuring sorrow road
blue buckled and weary,
expedition to mountains
earthly, ghostly, bleary.
Harrowing sadness 'til furrowed
rugged path paved sagely,
wagoneering mesas and canyons
dodgly, deftly, gamely.
Traversing time eases load
memories rich in bronzy,
making the way not so blacken
dusky, loamy, calmly.

Dream Big
'Tis others lack of vision perceives wasteland...
Dream big
look up, never down
since we as it happens in this big land
are amidst desolation,
control your own hand...
Stand up
forward motion, do not hesitate
'tis others lack of vision perceives wasteland
we my brothers,
must not idly stand...
Move ahead
to stop advancing is taking risk
of losing what is at our command
rather make history,
therefore proceed freehand.

Skimming The Surface
Cocking the eye scrunched to cheat death...
Gliding downstream
breakneck on urban desert street
skimming the surface of
avenue cracked from excessive heat,
a not-made-for-rain boulevard...
Mottled sheen
rain bouncing off rainwater sheet
obscuring oil slicked boulevard
guts required do-not-skip-a-beat,
a four wheeling free for all...
Shimmering gleam
cocking the eye scrunched to cheat
death as it takes a holiday while
tenterhook hanging on keeping my seat,
sole intention not-to-fall-by-wayside.

One lane over there's a guy
revving his strapping engine
sneak peeking at me
scanning hard it's easy to tell
which direction and how fast
he's boldly raring to go...

Lines Crossed The Air
Our wavelength isn't mere hardware...
The lines crossed the air
through atmosphere
connecting as you spoke
electrifying me...
Analog. Digital.
Wired. Wireless.
20th century. 21st cyber.
Talk. Hear. See.
Our wavelength isn't mere hardware
or technical gear
human coupling online unyoked
capturing me...
Technology is merely airfare
on our frontier
to interaction as menfolk
bridging you with me.

Thicket of Brush
Wrestling entangled full out wingspread...
Thicket of brush

reeds of thought
intentions I embed...
Scarlet my notions
in the bedstead,

whispered words said...
Kismet is reciprocal
as in crossbred,
wrestling entangled
full out wingspread.

Reconstruction
Baptized regenerated old washed away...
Fire still ignited
exhilirating me
you rolled away like thunder
departing me
beholding awesome wonder
Sparking reconstruction
innermost me
man at arms newfangled
reawakening me
hairy chested wrangled
Erecting new man
homegrown me
baptized regenerated old washed away
from me
straddling sawhorse headway

I Do Not Fear
The challenge of adversity pending economic cliffs...
I do not fear challenge
of adversity nor despair
from falling off
macro economic cliffs...
My character and soul
does not reside
in a bank account,
its spirit stays on axis...
Yes, a clock is ticking
that which really counts
keeping time well spent,
micro finances require braveness...
Maintaining sturdy constitution
steadies quality living instilled
when individuality is well built,
firmly on ground that does not shift..

Letters
Give me an I...
Prose was once play
putty on my fingers
molded thought clay...
In some mad game
now I scrabble for letters
to words that once came...
Verse however does flow
posing as poetry
however in reality I know...
I need full sentences
complete paragraphs
to reflect musing behind my lenses.

Revelation Dawned
A sunrise vision awakened...
Through speculative window a revelation dawned,
shifting frame of thinking...
unexpectedly, swiftly, precisely,
mind's eye scales peeled off
abruptly, promptly, directly.
Time substantiated a sunrise awakened,
lighting skyline of visioning...
unpremeditatedly, quickly, exactly,
mirror of the mind cleared
rapidly, agilely, expeditiously.
Life is more art than science
though science interprets facts of life
building blocks for creating
a world we interpret as our own.
Hence we make art,
authenticating our reason for living.

Feathers, Leaves, Sticks and Stones
Blown in by a dust devil...
Dancing dust devil spun
a small gyration of dust
carrying remnants of scattered earth,
leaving random odds and ends
on my upper floor unswept tile.
Reminiscent...
Whirl to my head feathers
a recent gust to soul
transporting fragments of strewn thoughts,
arriving haphazard sticks and stones
returning, requesting my mind's attention...
