Offshoot Up Against The Wall

Rising above unexpectedly against all odds...

Occasionally an offshoot rises above ground far from the source plant against all odds. Trees in the desert spread shallow roots far and wide to collect as much moisture as possible since rain is sparse. What little falls doesn't soak in deep and must be absorbed quickly. Occasionally water will collect in a spot and one of the shallow roots takes advantage of it to sprout an offshoot.

Tenaciously the offshoots survive by drawing water from the main tree that has a deep taproot far into the earth as a reserve. The sprig then grows strong enough to build its own root system and become an independent thriving tree larger or smaller than the mother tree depending on location. The will to survive and grow makes the ultimate size irrelevant rather what matters is the ability to make maximum use of what is available and continue to live and grow.

Reconstruction

Baptized regenerated old washed away...

Fire still ignited
exhilirating me
you rolled away like thunder
departing me
beholding awesome wonder

Sparking reconstruction
innermost me
man at arms newfangled
reawakening me
hairy chested wrangled

Erecting new man
homegrown me
baptized regenerated old washed away
from me
straddling sawhorse headway

Revelation Dawned

A sunrise vision awakened...

Through speculative window a revelation dawned,
shifting frame of thinking...
unexpectedly, swiftly, precisely,
mind's eye scales peeled off
abruptly, promptly, directly.

Time substantiated a sunrise awakened,
lighting skyline of visioning...
unpremeditatedly, quickly, exactly,
mirror of the mind cleared
rapidly, agilely, expeditiously.

Life is more art than science
though science interprets facts of life
building blocks for creating
a world we interpret as our own.
Hence we make art,
authenticating our reason for living.

Blades of Brush

Wild grass against sky...

Blades of wild grass brushing,
cutting edges across firmament.
Sky blue,
Leaf green,
Sun yellow reflecting white...
Artfully composing teal tinged
portraiture of nature in miniature.

Lights That Beacon

High timber guides through shrouded canyonland...

Through the mists with lights as beacons and high timber
that guide us through shrouded mortal canyonland.
We head down a road that twists and turns
round a bend and then lifts upward,
onward to evergreen heights unmanned.

Ah! At last...
Sierra vast with boundless vision for which we yearned.
