Music Break: Ricky Nelson

Garden Party...

Live 1985

  1. If you made a list of the however-many best-ever American rock/folk-rock/whatever tunes and put this near or at the top, you'd get no argument from me. It seems simple but it's brilliant. It's a wonderful song, and if you can possibly explain why I hear it (maybe) once on the radio for every 1000 times I hear "Gimme Three Steps", I'd love to know.

(Actually I think it's the same reason I don't hear any Elvis or "Johnnie B. Goode" or Townes Van Zandt or Iris Dement or anything else that matters to me: it's because things MATTER to me. Silly me.)

Great song. Thanks for putting it up!

  2. I think it's wonderfully crafted self-reflective song that doesn't get (nor does he either) it deserves.

Funny...I wondered if you would like this when I put it up.
